Kitchen Buys

Back in January this year my son wanted cupcakes for his birthday, and I thought I'd give it a try.   At that point I didn't own any icing tips or bags or anything.  So when I was looking at Walmart for some things I found this tool.  It seemed kinda neat, it was cheap, and came with five tips.  I bought it then and still enjoy using it now.  I wouldn't say it's super great, but for the things I do, I love it!  Another plus is that all the Wilton tips fit this tool, and I did purchase two packages of the metal tips of which I preferred over the plastic ones.  This tool is also available at Bed Bath Beyond in stainless for $24.99 I believe.

A few weeks ago I finally purchased a Kitchen Aid stand mixer, and I absolutely love it!  My husband has wanted to buy me one for about 7 years now, and I just always felt like it was so expensive and my little hand mixer was just fine.  I can honestly say now that I should have let the hubby buy it before now, lol!  It is just so nice to be hands free while working with so many ingredients.  A Kitchen Aid stand mixer is truly worth the expense, and I can't wait to buy some attachments.

I do not have enough counter space in my kitchen for canisters so I have gradually purchased more and more of these oxo containers from Bed Bath Beyond.  I really like these for storing all my baking ingredients.  They stack on top of one another great too.  They can get expensive if wanting to buy more than one.  I know you can get a mixed size box from Bed Bath Beyond, with I think 5 containers, for about $50.  Individually they run $10-$20 each.

I purchased this a few months ago at Bed Bath Beyond.  I think it was $20 but maybe $30.  I like using this for fast chopping. You just cut what you want chopped in half, place face down and close lid on it.  It keeps things crisp not having to worry bout it becoming mushy.  It's great for chopping lots of peppers for omelets.  There is no blade for super small dicing but for the price it's still a good kitchen buy!
